Port of San Francisco

The Port of San Francisco is one of the world's great cruise ports with a dramatic arrival under the legendary Golden Gate Bridge, past the world famous tourist sights of Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, and ending at Pier 35. Exciting itineraries to Alaska, Mexico and the South Pacific are offered from the Port of San Francisco. Metro operates the Cruise terminal and manages all stevedoring operations at Pier 35.

From Oakland International Airport (OAK)...
Take I-880 N toward DOWNTOWN OAKLAND. Follow the directions below from THE EAST.

From the East...
Take the I-80 W toward SAN FRANCISCO/BAY BRIDGE.
Take the FREMONT ST exit toward FOLSOM ST.
Turn Left on FOLSOM ST.
Turn Left on THE EMBARCADERO.

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the South...
Take US-101 N toward SAN FRANCISCO.
Take the DALY CITY/DOWNTOWN SF exit onto I-280 N toward PORT OF SF.
Take the Left exit. Continue on KING ST. KING ST becomes THE EMBARCADERO.

From the North...
Take US-101 S toward SAN FRANCISCO.
Bear Left on MARINA BLVD toward MARINA.
Turn Right on LAGUNA ST.
Turn Left on BAY ST.
Turn Right on THE EMBARCADERO.
Make a U-Turn at HOWARD ST onto THE EMBARCADERO.

Board the appropriate Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Train.

FROM THE EAST BAY, OR OAKLAND AIRPORT, take a train with any of the following destinations:

  24th Street, Daly City, Millbrae, Montgomery, SFO Airport.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO, THE PENINSULA, OR SFO AIRPORT.
Take a train with any of the following destinations:

  Dublin/Pleasanton, Fremont, Pittsburg/Bay Point, Richmond.

Exit Embarcadero Station, at the Main Street Exit on the south side of the station.

Board the San Francisco MUNI “F” Train Streetcar.

Exit the streetcar at the “Pier 33/Alcatraz” stop. Pier 35 is across the street.

The San Francisco Cruise Terminal entrance is right on The Embarcadero. There is a passenger and luggage pick-up and drop-off zone directly in front of the Terminal doors.

Q: How early can I drop off my luggage?
A:  You can drop your luggage off at the entrance to the Cruise Terminal up to 4 hours before your cruise departure time.

Q: Are there any attractions or landmarks near the terminal?
A:  Sure there are! The cruise terminal is within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, and the San Francisco Maritime Museum.

You can take the San Francisco MUNI “F” Train Streetcar, which is located across the street from the terminal.

Q: I think I left one of my bags at the terminal – what should I do?
A:  Contact your cruise line right away to ensure that you get reunited with your luggage. Do NOT call Metro Shore or Metro Cruise.
